What is the InfoEd System?
The InfoEd eRA portal is a web-based system designed to manage virtually all
administrative tasks involved in executing sponsored research and related
activities. In doing so, this software enables faculty, administrators and
staff to more efficiently track grants and contracts though their entire
lifecycle. InfoEd offers easy access to a host of information,
encompassing areas such as project status, revenue tracking and regulatory
compliance. Modules currently installed at the Health Center include:
Proposal Development – Provides for the development, review and
submission of research proposal applications. By using this module,
investigators can electronically route Federal proposals through UCHC's
internal approval process and submit them directly to the grants.gov web
portal.
Proposal
Tracking
– Provides administrators and investigators with a one-stop-shop to track
the progress of their proposal submissions. Within minutes, users can
obtain updates on various financial data (i.e. requested and awarded
budgets) and protocol-related information.
Compliance Management Suite InfoEd's compliance suite is
seamlessly integrated to provide centralized data management to UCHC's
research compliance offices (Office of the Internal Review Board, Office of
the Animal Care Committee, Office of Research Safety).
Technology Transfer – Streamlines the management of administrative
data relating to intellectual property by acting as a central clearinghouse
for all invention disclosures and related information. The module tracks
inventors, patents, key dates, contacts, agreements, documents and
communications, and financial information tied to expenses and royalties.
SPIN (Sponsored Programs Information
Network)
– SPIN is a searchable database that provides real-time access to current
research funding opportunities. All data in SPIN is obtained directly from
the sponsoring agencies themselves to ensure authenticity.
SMARTS (SPIN Matching And Research Transmittal Service) – SMARTS
is an automated system that periodically queries the SPIN database and sends
notifications to investigators regarding available funding opportunities in
their field of study.
GENIUS (Global Expertise Network for Industry, Universities and
Scholars)
– GENIUS stores academic profiles for researchers at our institution and
throughout the world. Investigators can search for external collaborators in
their field by using a series of keywords. The database also stores
Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Bio-sketch templates, which can be viewed, edited,
or deleted at anytime.
