The Bio-Engineering Center was originally established in 1979 to provide technical support to the research community at the Health Center.  Recently, Bio-Engineering has gone through a transition and has been expanded to function as an internal engineering and technical services center.  We provide a fee for service to all areas of the institution, with the rate provided below.

Our principal services include:

Engineering (Biomedical/Electrical/Mechanical)

Consultation: Grant planning, equipment/device conceptualization, equipment selection

Cooperation: Grant and/or project participation

Academics: Assist with identifying graduate engineering student candidates for projects and provide student oversight, etc.

Electrical/Mechanical

Repair: Centrifuges, water baths, stir-plates, etc.

Design/fabrication: Plexiglas chambers, replacement parts, custom devices, etc., from customer’s prints OR specifications

Machine shop services: Fully-equipped machine shop with lathe, milling machine, etc.

Miscellaneous Services

Laboratory pipette: Calibration, repair (Call for pricing!)

Stock of commonly used parts: Bulbs, fuses, cables, adapters, interface cards, etc.

Parts/equipment location: catalogs, phone search, and internet

Current Rates

(Please note that this rate is inexpensive when compared to similar outside resources.)

Engineering, Technician, Machine Shop: $90.00/hour

Response times vary depending on current work load and we do our best to handle emergencies on the same day.
